Meeting of MGIMO Rector A.V. Torkunov with the Ambassador of Somalia

On September 29, 2022, Hassan Abi Daoud, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Somalia to Russia, visited MGIMO.

The Ambassador was met by MGIMO Rector A.V. Torkunov and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Social Work and International Relations S.I. Surovtsev.

In his speech, A.V. Torkunov told the distinguished guests about the University, about MGIMO's cooperation with African universities, teaching African languages at MGIMO, various events aimed at popularizing African topics among Russian students and helping in a comprehensive study of the region, as well as strengthening relations between Russia and African countries.

During the visit, the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between MGIMO and universities in Somalia. The parties agreed to support cultural and academic cooperation, in particular on participation in the RAMI Convention and the II Forum "Russia - Africa: What's Next?" held in October on the basis of MGIMO.
