At the initiative of the Malian side, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the President of the Transitional Period of the Republic of Mali, A. Goita.

Topical issues of further development of bilateral relations, including in the trade and economic sphere, were discussed.

At the same time, the importance of implementing the Russian initiative on the gratuitous transfer of about 300 thousand tons of fertilizers to countries in need, which were blocked in European ports due to illegitimate sanctions restrictions, was noted.

They confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening Russian-Malaysian cooperation in the field of security in order to eradicate terrorist groups throughout Mali.

Vladimir Putin invited Assimi Goita to take part in the second Russia–Africa summit, which is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2023.
