On September 23, in New York, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Sergey Lavrov had a conversation with Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Sudan Abdel Fattah Burhan.
Various aspects of the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations were considered.
Mutual interest in expanding business cooperation between the two countries was confirmed, including in the context of the implementation of agreements reached following the results of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission
on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Moscow in August.
The Russian side highly appreciated the efforts of the Sudanese leadership to stabilize the internal political situation in the country, and also confirmed the principled line on the inadmissibility of interference in its internal affairs.
Sergey Lavrov: I would like to express the hope that your Government's efforts aimed at full normalization of the situation will be successful. We are ready to support this line in the UN.
