Relations between Russia and African countries should not depend on the will of the United States or the EU states. This was announced on Tuesday, July 12, by the head of the secretariat of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, Russian Ambassador-at-Large Oleg Ozerov.

"Western states ... by their actions have blocked the traditional ways of our interaction with the African continent, and there are pros and cons in this," the diplomat explained. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
In these circumstances, Russia and African countries need direct contacts. Moscow plans to build relations in the field of logistics, finance and legal regulation. It is necessary to establish cooperation between integration associations, for example, the Eurasian Economic Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

"There is a political will of the Russian leadership for this," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed. Moscow expects assistance from its partners in Africa, the diplomat concluded.
The head of the African Union paid an official visit to Russia in early June. He discussed with the President of the Russian Federation the prospects of cooperation between the countries of the continent and Moscow.
