Loretta Marie Perera

Head of editorial team
4 years in Artec 3D
Luxembourg office

Within my current position I manage all the content, which creates Artec 3D. So, everything that's written on our site that you see is either written by, edited by, or created by me and my team. That applies to case studies, learning center articles, solutions pages, events posts, news posts, all new product launches and partly social media. I also work with our PR agencies around the world to make sure that they are receiving all the latest case studies from and work with our digital marketing and design teams to help discuss upcoming campaigns.

We've recently started a new website, it will soon be called 3D print mag. In this site, me and the team are creating lots of content, not just about 3D scanning, but about 3D printing and the 3D industry in general.

In my job I really like talking to new people and just having conversations with people in different industries around the world. And that's what I'm able to do through the connection I have with some of our close partners, like some of our Artec ambassadors. I have regular calls with them and try to maintain good relationships.

It also makes me really happy when I have a story that's about a particular interest and I go to a writer and say “hey, this is something you're really passionate about. Can you write a story about this?” And they already have the expertise and the enthusiasm about a particular application of 3D scanning.

I am proud of the projects that I've had to start from scratch, for example, one of them is the Armenia project. And that one's a really interesting story because when I first joined Artec, I wrote a case study about a surgeon in Paris. A few years later, he and a few others came back to me to say, we want to start an NGO in Armenia to help soldiers who have been hurt in the Armenian-Azerbaijan war. They visited our office in Luxembourg and we shared their story through our PR and social media.

Another notable project is Scan the World in London, where we lent a scanner to individuals who traveled to museums globally, scanning fascinating artifacts. The collaboration with Google Arts and Culture resulted in a headline-worthy story.

Our hybrid work mode really helps me. I think my first year I wrote about 20 to 30 case studies and now I write maybe four to five a year because so much more of my work is about editing and about coordinating and PR and like different things. So to me, I need to set the time for myself that this day is when I'm going to actually write something instead of edit or manage something.

Within the Artec I have worked in Moscow,in Montenegro and now in Luxembourg.

I visited the US office and somehow everyone in every office has been really nice even if sometimes they're a bit shy at first. Here I have formed such great friendships with people who are completely different from me.

I love live music. So not just big concerts and festivals, but also smaller places with local bands. I really love to support local music. I love vinyl records, so I love collecting vinyl so I can stay home and listen to them and go to concerts and collect them. Also I love checking out cool new bars and cafes and working on my own novel.

Blitz:

1/ Cats or dogs?

Cats. Although I like both, a dog is not quite appropriate for my current lifestyle.

2// If you would like to pick up any famous person to have a drink in a bar, who would it be?

Joe Strummer from The Clash. This band has inspired me a lot. And I've already met the bassist and the guitarist of this band! So if I could, I need to meet the lead singer to complete this group of them

3// If not working with content, what would you like to do?

I've always been interested in coding. I wanted to understand a bit more about the technology that we work with, or at least some basic fundamentals. So I tried out some apps to learn the basics of coding and things like that. So yeah, I wish I had more time to like, or more capacity to be better at it.
