Within our team, I collaborate closely with my colleagues, sharing responsibilities for all aspects of our flagship scanner, the Artec Leo. We handle everything from software development to user interface design, interaction with external services, project management, export and import processes, and various other tasks, creating a well-coordinated workflow.
What I particularly appreciate about our team is the flexibility in choosing our tools. This allows us to select the most optimal solutions for the problems at hand. Our software architecture is diverse, incorporating elements in Rust, Python, and C++, all work smoothly with one another. One project highlight worth mentioning is the module we developed for uploading projects to the cloud. It marked our first significant venture into Rust, implemented synchronously, and I'm genuinely satisfied with the outcome.
Leo has a cool wow effect. When you pick up that scanner and it starts working, it looks magical. It's like you're painting a three-dimensional object with a brush. Plus, the beauty of it is that it's a full-fledged computer on its own that doesn't need an extra laptop to work. You can literally flip scanned designs onto your cell phone.
I have a strong passion for programming, dedicating approximately half of my free time to various projects. Recently, I crafted a Telegram bot for my wife, involving Function as a Service (FaaS) – a challenging yet fascinating endeavor for those familiar with it.
Traveling is another one of my passions, and I've been fortunate to explore numerous countries. Among my personal favorites are India, Japan, and Singapore. India stands out for its delectable cuisine and warm-hearted people, Japan fascinates with its abundance of captivating and technological attractions, while Singapore impresses with its cleanliness and urban vibe.
Luxembourg is a very beautiful city. The convenience of having a vehicle not only opens up nearby destinations but also other countries for exploration. I like that you can walk for a long time there. I think that's where I'll finally get to walk around the city!
1/ Cats or dogs?
Dogs, of course. My mom and aunt have a golden retriever and a German shepherd.
2/ If you would like to pick up any famous person to have a drink in a bar, who would it be?
It would be Eliezer S. Yudkowsky. He is an American artificial intelligence researcher and writer on decision theory and ethics, best known for popularizing ideas related to friendly artificial intelligence, including the idea of a "fire alarm" for AI.
3/ If not programming, what would you like to do?
Probably law. There's a certain logic in the way laws are structured that resonates with my programming mindset. Or I could have been an engineer, it was even a possibility, but programming turned out to be stronger.
