Is Feminism Bad For Corporate World?

“The concept of feminism originated at a time when there was a gender disparity and an urgency to provide a pedestal to the female wing of the society so that they can walk hand in hand as to ensure the progress of the nation.”

But we have come a long way since then and at the present scenario the word feminism has lost its actual sanctity and the concept for which it originated has been violated.

Now, the girls are quite competent enough to stand out at prestigious positions like Chanda Kochar, Indira Nooyi, Arundhati Bhattacharya, etc they are CEOs of their respective organisations. So there is no necessity so as to demand equality. It has become a trend and to demand unnecessary right in the name of feminism. They want superiority over men then equality.

Sitting on the chair of any corporate manager it would always be beneficial to hire male employees for any crucial positions. For women when one shift of office ends the other one shift starts i.e. kids, family and laundry. Thus, it is quite obvious that she cannot give undivided attention to the work.

Due to feminism, there has been an order as passed by the central government that there needs to be a minimum number of female employees in the corporates. So, just as to fill in the quantity, the quality is compromised. There had been some comments that the married women are not getting preference. But the actual reason is that sooner or later the women might go on maternity leave and if it happens to be during an important project then it would adversely affect the economy of the company.

“ I’m a feminist. I’ve been a female for a long time now. I’d be stupid not to be on my own side.”

-Maya angelou

Now it has become a fashion to be called feminists and activists to put forth the rights of women.

Due to feminism, companies don’t want to promote women. due to the over activism in demanding and asserting the rights the managers feel that they would pose serious misunderstandings and conflicts within the organisation. There are fair chances that after some time there will be the number of women in the organisation as compared to men. This can create internal conflicts in the organisation which results in decrease in the performance of the company. And somewhere the interests of men will be compromised.

The women’s emotional intelligence is quite low as compared to men so it becomes a hurdle when incorporates you have to handle criticism effectively. Feedback's can be both positive and negative. Men listen to feedback's and he tries to understand the problem and tries to rectify himself. But at the same time, women constantly undervalue themselves and act on it with ensuing cognitive dissonance. They try to find fault in themselves.

“The feminist movement taught women to see themselves as victims of an oppressive patriarchy....Self-imposed victimhood is not a recipe for happiness.”

Phyllis Schlafly

While demanding equality we tend to forget that we ourselves are declaring us as incompetent and incapable as that of men. We tend to victimise ourselves rather than trying to upgrade us. We should focus on equal opportunities and should not be obsessed with equal outcomes. Instead of criticizing the system and trying to prove superiority over men by demanding extra right over them we should focus on developing and nurturing our qualities thus, as to stand with the same balance.
