CORONAVIRUS IN CIS: MOLDOVA, ARMENIA, RUSSIA UPDATES

MOLDOVA

The Parliament of Moldova introduced a state of emergency in the country, starting from March 17, 2020 the country's borders are closed for foreign citizens. In a statement on the website of the Government, President Igor Dodon announced that restrictive measures would last until May 15, but "depending on the development of events, the duration of the emergency can be shortened."

Exceptions:

  • Persons with diplomatic accreditation;
  • Persons holding a residence permit in Moldova.

ARMENIA

The Armenian government introduced state of emergency from March 16, 2020, 18:30, until April 14, 17:00 (Yerevan time).

According to the commentary from Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated March 18, restrictions are introduced for foreign citizens arriving from countries with a high risk of the coronavirus epidemic or for those who visited these countries at least 14 days before traveling to Armenia. Currently, the list of such countries includes: China, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Great Britain.

This list may be revised in the future. Exceptions are provided for foreign citizens with the status of legal resident of Armenia.

Those arriving from countries with an increased risk of coronavirus will be isolated in specially designated places for quarantine or may be subject to mandatory self-isolation.

RUSSIA

According to the decree of the Chief Sanitary Office No. 7 dated March 18, 2020, self-isolation for 14 days must be imposed upon all citizens arriving into Russia from abroad, regardless of the country of departure.

Previously, the list of countries upon arrival of which self-isolation was required varied depending on the specific decrees in different regions of the Russian Federation, but since March 18, this requirement applies to all countries.
