CORONAVIRUS IN RUSSIA: UPDATE ON ENTRY RESTRICTIONS AND SUSPENSION OF FLIGHTS

In accordance with the latest governmental decrees Russia lifts restrictions for entry into Russia for some specific categories of foreign nationals.

Additionally, the Russian government has ordered that responsible authorities fully suspend international flights effective 27 March 2020.

What are the changes?

1. In additional to previously specified exceptions restriction on entry into Russia will not apply in relation to the following categories of foreign nationals:

  • Those who are close relatives (spouses, parents, children), guardians or trustees of Russian nationals at the condition of presenting a document confirming such relationship
  • Citizens of CIS countries as well as recognized by Russia states of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, who arrive via air checkpoints and proceed to their home country via plane or other means of transportation
  • Citizens of Ukraine who permanently reside in the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions uncontrolled by Ukraine

2. The government has ordered to suspend all regular and charter flights to foreign countries and back effective 12 AM, 27 March 2020 with exception to flights evacuating Russian nationals to Russia or flights specifically approved by the government.
