Exploring ZK & Its Potential to Stimulate New Cross-chain Innovations
The cryptocurrency community has been striving to achieve interoperability among different blockchains for some time, aiming to build a solid foundation for further technology development. In the new post, Tigran Bolshoi, co-founder of Kinetex, explores the current state of cross-chain communication and how zero-knowledge technology can revolutionize it.
The crypto industry is expanding rapidly, with new blockchains, protocols, and dApps constantly emerging before users' eyes. However, managing coins and tokens across different networks remains a challenge to this day.
For instance, cross-chain bridges, one of the most common cross-chain technologies, have many security, scalability, and efficiency issues, and their multi-chain versions can only partially overcome all these present problems. With hackers targeting bridges' smart contracts or supporting node validators, liquidity being frozen or fragmented, and execution speed being relatively low sometimes, bridges need to be improved significantly to withstand the growth of the crypto industry and the consequent increase of users. Zero-knowledge technology proofs (ZKPs) can help make cross-chain more secure and efficient.
