Here's Quick Way to Solve Thin Metal Micromachining
For laser cutting small parts with precision and repeatability on thinner sheet metals, a lower power system is required. Otherwise, it's like using a sledgehammer to open bananas and losing money for doing so. The use of a high-power laser machine on thin metals may cause many problems that a lower-powered machine might prevent. For example, a high-power laser is designed to cut thick metal, not thin, so it can become unstable by underperforming it.
The running costs involved are not comparable with a low-powered system, either. Setting up costs can also be out of proportion to the work's value. Indeed using a high-power laser to cut small parts can double the production costs.
At Laserod, we have developed a small component laser cutting solution for various metal forms. Our thin metal cutting and drilling system is a flatbed laser cutter designed for cutting small sections in both concept and commercial applications. The laser system functions on a wide range of metals, from steel to titanium, aluminum to alloys, our single-mode lasers deliver superior cutting performance and reliability.
A lot of laser industry has problems cutting and drilling thin metals, Laserod doesn't. The cutting and molding of thin metals are one of our key specialties; our use of single-mode lasers guarantees low thermal distortion. Our size of laser-cut widths (kerfs) is between 10 and 50 microns.
Laser micromachining thin materials at Laserod cover:
- Max Depth: up to 3mm
- Min Depth: none
- Typical Depth: 0.5mm
- Kerf Loss: 10-25 microns (width of laser cut in any material)
- Laser Debris: Entrance side only, none on the laser exit side. The debris field is an easily removable haze; the debris has no adhesion. If desired, remove with Q-tip, styrofoam, DI water, ultrasonic cleaning, etc. We can do this if you prefer.
- Laser ablation of metal creates a hazy residue of redeposited metal, but only on one side. The particulates are submicron in size.
Precision is a passion for Laserod Technologies when it relates to laser micromachining. Be it femtosecond micromachining or picosecond micromachining.
