After all, a boot is still a boot.
Personally. I've enjoyed my free healthcare, high minimum wage, access to education, and infrastructure that isn't rotting away. Pretty sweet that people who are struggling here have a safety net as well instead of being forced into criminality and vagrancy.
Giving power to the state reduces everyone's liberty and is antithetical to the very nature of the founding of the USA.
Change it to communism. That's the fear right? We have socialism in the United states. Its public transit, schools, police, fire department, ect. What our tax dollars get allocated to.
Capitalism fails every 5 years and socialism bails it out everytime.
People need to stop confusing economic models with political ones. You can have socialism without totalitarianism. The boot on this image is totalitarianism and not socialism. You can have totalitarianism with capitalism. If you don't like totalitarianism, fight against that, but don't be pretend it's socialism you don't like.
The boot is literally capitalism in todays America
Socialism always leads to communism. You can't get millions of people to agree on Socialism which then makes governments instill authoritarian rules to make sure all citizens comply. Then you just have communism
The capitalism we have is a perverted version geared to enrich and wealthy at the expense of the rest. In true capitalism there is no bankruptcy, no do over. The other aspect of income inequality is corporate greed, witch is what we are experiencing now.
The talk people really need to have is taxation... taxation is theft... but guess what it's not going away. I'd be all about that radical discussion. But the people that talk about socialism or advocate for it are really talking about is actually getting something for your fucking tax dollars outside of public schools and police officers or roads. If the government has a trillion dollars to spend on an unprovoked war then they can afford to end homelessness or give people healthcare that need it
Socialism is where those that have benefited the most from the benefits of society, in terms of education, healthcare, policing, roads, infrastructure, etc (everything it takes to build and run a business) contribute most to the upkeep of those things. So that everyone has equal opportunity. Also the workers in that business take a share of the profits.
I feel like many people don’t understand socialism. That goes for people who identify as socialists and the people who are terrified of it.
Social security not perfect, better than nothing, but I am for a balance between socialism and capitalism. To much of either breeds the other.
Socialism: the public ownership of the means of production. It’s a central run economy. Politicians run the economy. It empowers the worst people on the planet... the politicians, to how your life will play out, not you.
The liberals pride themselves in being individuals. They have no idea that those things get stripped away in most socialist situations. The whole idea behind socialism is that everyone is the same. You won't get any more of anything because you belong to some minority or group. There won't be as many choices. The whole idea is that nobody gets any better than anyone else. There won't be any welfare, as nobody has anything that hasn't already been shared. Everyone is poor. There isn't enough to go around. The irony is that there are still rich people. They are above the social situation somehow. They are usually the leaders telling you that socialism works and that you should keep working towards the socialism dream. It's funny how a socialist leader can tell his people to live in socialism while he lives in opulence
