How Should A Woman Dress In Marrakech?

"What should I wear in Marrakech? "Can I wear shorts in Marrakech? "" What would be considered appropriate tourist clothing in Marrakech?

A LOT of people get too complicated and needlessly panic about what to wear in Marrakech as a traveler.

I will reduce it to a very simple formula for you. The question of what to wear in Marrakech as a woman comes down to a very basic principle: dress comfortably with your arms, legs, and curves covered. It's that simple. Following this simple rule of thumb, let's talk about...

What not to bring to Marrakech

So given that we have to dress for comfort while covering our arms, legs and curves, I want to mention some pretty obvious things that fall under the category of “what not to wear in Marrakech”. Leave the following items at home:

Spaghetti straps or tubular tops
Unless you cover yourself in extra layers or a scarf, these things won't do you any good. Really.

Crop tops
Marrakech is not the place to rock your abs. Keep your stomach hidden for this one, ladies.

(Booty) Shorts
As I mentioned earlier, wearing shorts in Marrakech is not illegal or anything; in fact during the hot summer months you will also see local women wearing shorts, BUT you will get a lot of unwanted attention if you show up as well. a lot of bones. One day in Marrakech I wore a knee length skirt and noticed a much stranger look than the day I wore jeans or leggings. If you hate to be seen, leave your shorts at home.

Short dresses
As I mentioned earlier, leg = appearance. I chose long dresses or I wore leggings to cover myself up.

High heels
Unless you like to limp... It's pretty obvious, but comfortable shoes are important. I don't see any instances where you might need heels unless you are planning to dine somewhere really fancy.

Too expensive or flashy
My best advice for not getting robbed is to not look like a thief. You really don't need to bring your great-grandmother's priceless brooch or the matching Louis Vuitton suitcase set. The point is, floating your fortune here in Morocco will make you a target, not necessarily just for theft, but for fraud as well. Either way, if you want to minimize yourself as a goal, don't look rich.

Before we move onto the next point you need to know about the the Marrakech Concierge. A London based company, we have over 10 years of experience arranging tailor-made bespoke holidays. What to bring to Marrakech instead

So now that we've covered what not to pack, what should women wear in Marrakech? The following are things that I consider appropriate clothing for exploring Marrakech. General rules: nothing too revealing, nothing too tight and things that can be mixed and matched:

SUN GLASSES!
Okay, thing number one: don't forget your sunglasses. This Moroccan sun is not just a joke, I love them because they prevent eye contact. I know it sounds extreme, but the crying cat who usually "pulls" groceries can get overwhelming after a while, and having sunglasses can help you get rid of them.

Scarves
Scarves are the best.

REPEAT AFTER ME: Scarves are the best.

The reason I love them so madly is that scarves are not only good to cover up, but they are also versatile and can add fun / color to any of your outfits. But if you don't pack one, don't worry, there are around 10.5 million stalls in the medina that are happy to sell you one.

Long dresses and skirts
As we mentioned earlier, it's probably a good idea to cover your legs, so be sure to pack maxi dresses and ankle-length skirts (like the maximum length). Fluids would work better - those that fit your butt perfectly probably won't do much to distract from you.

Leggings
They are great as an extra layer of warmth if you are traveling during the colder months, or just as a modesty to cover up if you want to bring shorter skirts or dresses.

(Wide and flowing) Long pants
And while long skirts and dresses are great to wear in Marrakech, I'd make sure you pack at least one pair of pants if you're doing something physical (imagine taking a camel ride in a dress). My favorite would be baggy, airy and comfortable harem pants. I prefer them to jeans because jeans can get very hot and stuffy. And if they are tighter, you will attract unwanted glances.

Loose-fitting shirts or blouses
I insist on loose cuts because your trip to Marrakech is not the time to show them to your girls. For this list of packages in Marrakech, my goal is to distract as much unwanted attention as possible, so try to choose tops that are not too low and not too tight. Tunic-style tops are a great option for this!

Long-sleeved or leather cardigans
When creating your Marrakech packing list, it is important that you have something that you can throw over your clothes for cover. Depending on the time of year you visit, this will be a warmer cardigan when the temperature is colder, or a thin, flowy cardigan like a kimono if you want to keep your outfit light and airy.

Comfortable walking shoes
Keywords: comfortable. Now it all depends on your personal preferences: some girls love to wear sneakers all day, but I prefer very breathable and comfortable sandals like these.
