PR2-Essay 2

People today spend too much time on personal enjoyment—doing things they
like to do—rather than doing things they should do.

Personally, I agree that people nowadays spend more time on enjoyment rather than things people should do. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explain in the following essay.

To begin with, we have a lot of distractions around us. Such services as Instagram, TikTok, and Netflix are the most distractive services now. People could spend the whole day in TikTok watching funny and short videos, but they can not devote an hour to work. They are sitting in a social network at work and later crying because of their low salary. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. When I was in 9 grade, I spent too much time in the social network "Vkontakte." I was sitting there and swiping the main page to find some funny pictures known as 'memes.' Instead of doing homework or study at school, I was spending my all-time in "VK," and my grades drop to the threes. When I understand that this social network kills all my free time, I deleted it and became the best student in the class. I reckon that people, instead of doing useful things spending their time on social networks.

Also, with technology development, people became lazy—almost everything we could do with the help of our modern technologies. People stop spending time on regular things; instead, they prefer to watch some series on Netflix. For instance, my friend lives in a smart house. He can do everything from his phone: turn on/off lights, boil water for the tea, and clean the house. Because his movement unnecessary in his home, he goes only to the toilet or to the kitchen, a major part of his time, he just lying on the sofa and watching something on Netflix or swiping Instagram. But before this smart system, my friend was an active person that would prefer to read instead of sitting on Instagram. Therefore, I reckon that modern technologies made people lazy.

In conclusion, I strongly feel that people now spent their time on useless things rather than useful. This is because we have too many distractions around us and modern technologies made people lazy.
