Dance performance "Faces"

This dance performance raises the question — what can a human body talk about to another human body? Probably the most relevant form of the dance is an attempt to be sincere when words are not enough to explain things.

"The Speculative Department of Biosecurity and Biosurveillance" performance by Lyndsey Walsh

The Speculative Department of Biosecurity and Biosurveillance has invited you to consult on the decision-making of global and national future. Our notions of borders, biosecurity, and biosurveillance maybe forever changed by the impact of COVID-19. Many countries around the world are having their healthcare and economic infrastructures pushed to their absolute limits.

The Department of Speculative Biosecurity and Biosurveillance has emerged as a tool to imagine what these potential visions of our future may be like and start a dialogue about which ones we should begin to work towards. As a workshop, The Speculative Department of Biosecurity and Biosurveillance invites participants to take part in its fictional department procedures. Participants are embedded in the bureaucratic decision-making, problem-solving, and speculation about future scenarios that society may face in light of emerging biothreats and biohazards.

Topics of the workshop include but are not limited to: the presence of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), viruses, gene editing technologies, disease, microorganisms, and more.
