This appears to be a rocky outcrop or escarpment protruding from otherwise arid terrain. The Anti-Lebanon Mountains of the Al-Qalamoun region, specifically just south of the town of Assal al-Ward (عسال الورد).

The long, dense green strip on the right side of the image has a distinctly different signature than the orchard grids or the dry, plowed earth nearby. Because it lacks the grid structure of trees and shows a uniform, carpet-like density, this "grass" looking area is a field crop.

Given the agricultural context of the high-altitude Al-Qalamoun region, this plot is highly likely to be a field of cereal grains or forage crops.

During the spring and early summer months, fields of winter wheat or barley turn a vibrant, deep green before maturing into gold for the summer harvest. Another strong possibility for this type of dense, lush ground cover in Syrian mountain farming is alfalfa or similar clover-like forage crops, which are heavily cultivated in these valleys to feed local livestock.

Those striking, swirly patterns wrapping around the hillsides are agricultural terraces carved directly into the slopes.

In rugged, mountainous areas like the Al-Qalamoun region, farmers build these step-like terraces following the natural contours of the topography. It prevents fragile topsoil from eroding down the steep mountainside during heavy rains, and it traps scarce rainwater so it sinks into the ground rather than rushing down the slope as runoff.

That brown expanse to the right of the terraces isn't actually a natural desert, though the dry climate makes it look like one from above. It is simply uncultivated or fallow agricultural land that is waiting for the next planting cycle. Because the region relies heavily on seasonal rain and crop rotation, farmers will leave entire hillsides bare for a season to let the soil rest and accumulate moisture.
