- Installation
This node can only be installed on a separate server. In the case of "settling" where there are already nodes, they may stop working.
Log in to your server through the client program.

- Backup

- Afterwards
Check the work of your node once every 2-3 days on http://youripaddress:3000/d/L2ExecutionEngine. This can also be done from your phone.

- Uninstall

How To Install Shardeum Node

What is Shardeum?

Shardeum is an EVM based L1 that uses dynamic state sharding to achieve linearly scalability. This means Shardeum can increase its TPS capacity with each validator added to the network to retain low fees forever. In many state sharded blockchains, developers face challenges as they don’t retain atomic composability across shards. However, Shardeum uses a novel architecture where atomic composability is retained. Shardeum provides the highest throughput capacity of any EVM based L1 without sacrificing on decentralization.

For developers, the experience of building on Shardeum is the same as other EVM chains, you can deploy contracts in Solidity or Vyper and there aren’t any special considerations relative to sharding. You don’t need to consider which shard you deploy your contract to as the network retains atomic composability with all applications. However, developers benefit from linear scaling on Shardeum as you no longer have to concern losing users due to rising gas fees. On Shardeum you can build truly decentralized applications that aren’t limited by throughput bottlenecks.

- Request coins from the faucet

Replace 000000 with your address which is in Metamask and click on Tweet

- Wallet connection
Go to Shardeum's personal account, to the Maintenance section and click Connect Wallet. Select Metamask, your account and connect to the site. If, suddenly, the site freezes, then just refresh the page and try to connect the wallet again (If connected, then follow the instructions below)

Next, click on Add Stake

Check the address in the Stake Wallet Addres line against your Metamask. Enter the amount 10 and click Stake. Confirm the operation in Metamask.

If an error occurs, then repeat the operation again. If it doesn't work again, try again later.

If the operation is successful, you will be charged 10 coins from Metamask.

- Checking work
Go to the Overview section and check the status. During the initial setup, it should be - Standby. You should also see 10 staked coins.

The Standby status should switch to Active within 48 hours (That's 2 days!).

Another alternative way to check is using the Shell console.

To check from your phone - enter Metamask and find the button - Browser (in new versions it is located below). In the search, type https://alice.muon.net/ and connect the wallet to the site. The wallet address must match the one you connected earlier.

After the time passes and your node goes Active, you will see:

Create a backup file on your server. Enter the command:

docker exec -it muon-node ./node_modules/.bin/ts-node ./src/cmd keys backup > backup.json

Go to the root folder on your server and find the backup.json file. Download the file from the server to your computer. This can be done via SFTP in Termius or any other program.

Click on SFTP and you will see your computer on the left. Immediately go to the folder where you want to transfer the file from the server.

Click on Select host and 2 times on your server.

As a result, on the left (Local) is your computer. On the right (IP address) is your server.
Go to the root folder on your server and find backup.json. Drag the file from right to left to the folder you want on your computer.

Download and install the program from the official website termius.com/mac-os

Run the downloaded program and click on Continue without account.
If you do not have the opportunity to skip it, then Sign up in a convenient way.

Go to your email or personal backoffice of the company where you rented the server. Take the ip address from there and enter it, and then click Create host

Next, fill in all the required fields:

server. For example, Server 12.12.22. So, you will not forget to renew it and you

Checking work

Also, let's go back to the alchemy website and check the work and activity. To do this, go to the Dashboard and then find the line with the name of your node and click View Details.

Backup copy

Save the backup to your computer. Go to the SFTP section in Termius or any other client program to see your server files.

The version of the gear_staging_testnet_v5 folder may differ (v5, v6, v7, etc.). Copy the secret_ed25519 file to your computer.

sudo systemctl stop gear-node

After that, transfer the secret_ed25519 file from your PC to the server to the network folder. Full path:

root/.local/share/gear/chains/gear_staging_testnet_v5/network

And run the node with the command:

sudo systemctl start gear-node
