Greetings fellow animators!

An extraordinary and eventful year is almost behind us. And we don't just mean the appalling COVID-19 pandemic that has drastically changed our lives. In view of all the bad news, we would like to also shed light on the positive events of 2020 and to give our outlook for 2021.

This July, after extensive code refactoring, we released a smoothly functioning open beta version, which was later on followed by two more versions with more features & function updates.

Also, during 2020 we were able to triple the number of Cascadeur users participating in the beta test from 20,000 to almost 70,000.

We are grateful to every single one of you. Only through your feedback we understand that we are on the right track with Cascadeur’s development. So thank you for your active participation in our online surveys, as well as in the discussions on our Discord server and Forum. We hope to keep our dialogue with you as active in the new year!

What’s next?
In 2020 we released fewer visible features but invested more time in improving the program’s core. This will be paying off in 2021 because now we can announce an extensive list of new features that are either almost ready for release or can be implemented quickly:

• Physical ghosts (alpha version)
• Custom humanoid autoposing
• Scene viewport sync
• Cycled animation
• Graph editor
• Python scripting
• Rig customization

... and much more!

But this is just an excerpt of our plans. You can find a complete list of features for 2021 on our Trello roadmap. You will also find further descriptions of the features mentioned above.

In the longer term, of course, we are also planning to introduce other desired features such as MacOS support, skinning, blend shapes, facial animation, and full-featured physical ghosts supported by a neural network. But since the development of these functions is particularly complex, we are currently unable to forecast the time of their release.
