Introduction:

Indians have had astonishing command in architecture for more than 1000 years. The reason for this command is a little bit different from other countries or continents. The most important aspect we must consider is that Indians have a diverse culture.

We can divide Indian cultural systems into three types: Dravidian Architecture, North Eastern and North Western. Apart from North Eastern and North Western, Dravidian culture was inherited solely in the motherland.

North Eastern Architecture loosely influenced by dravidian culture, since diverse regions waged war and conquered the country their identity of culture and architecture have been merged with the conquerors like mughals and britishers.

Here I would like to list a few indian architectures which are solely born in the motherland and few cultures are merged with other architectural cultures. EPS Interiors in Chennai have developed 100+ designs for various cultures for your interiors. Our Architects have immense knowledge about our traditional and contemporary designs.

Vesara Architecture:

Vesara style architecture is majorly used in Deccan Plateau and some parts of north india. Vesara prominently received its style from dravidian architecture. The major differentiation it shows is, vesara are pyramid like structures but they are not sharp in the top of the building.

Ultimately the structure looks totally different from Tamilnadu designs. These types of designs were majorly used in the 7th to 13th century. Though King Raja Raja Chola was ruling deccan plateau, he never influenced in the core Vesara Architecture, so that people can preserve their traditions.

We can say vesara architecture is the combining designs of Nagara and Dravidian Styles. There are many monuments available for vesara architecture, the major one is Kedareshwara Temple. It was constructed during the 11th century and the three shrines are still standing with pride.

Sikh Architecture:

Sikh Architecture is majorly influenced by mughal, persian architecture. If we change some minor designing work to the building we can easily come to the conclusion that these buildings are heavily influenced by mughal and persian architectures.

Sikh architecture majorly evolved during the 18th and 19th century and it made many bold moves. The designs are more aggressive. Many region have taken the idea of sikh architecture, some of the region are UAE, Saudi Arabia etc.,The very first notable sikh architecture building is Guru Nanak Devi Gurdvara temple, now in pakistan.

Some of the main feature of Sikh Architecture are

- Onion Dome which was similar to mughal architecture.

- Sikh Architecture does not have minarets in the 4 corners of the building.

-Instead their watch towers are integrated with the main buildings.

-Sikh Buildings have high logic and have a high value of progressiveness.

Conclusion:

Architecture cultures always vary from time to time and it can influence many regions, Sometimes religion too. We can see many cultures and traditions build architectural buildings across the world. But the only country in the world who’s designs majorly originated from the culture is Indian Architecture.

Apart from Sikh and vesara architectures, India is home to following architectures Mughal Architecture, Indo-Saracenic Revival Architecture, Dravidian Architecture, Kalinga Architecture, Sikh Architecture, Cave Architecture, Temple Architecture and Rock Cut Architecture.
