LONDON — A recent study shows that the average teenager spends around 7 hours a day looking at screens. To test how this affects young people, a popular youth magazine asked a group of 15-year-old volunteers to participate in a "Digital Detox" experiment. The rules were simple: no smartphones, no internet, and zero gaming for exactly 24 hours.

The results were surprising. During the first few hours, most participants reported high levels of anxiety and boredom. Many admitted they automatically checked their empty pockets every five minutes.

However, by the evening, the situation changed. Without TikTok and online chats, the teenagers found alternative ways to spend their time. Some of them finally cleaned their rooms, others played board games with their families, and one volunteer even read a whole book in one sitting.
