MEXC? No. Tonhub? No.
TON Community, notorious for its irrational blocking policies, blocking helpful accounts while allowing those who make stupid and even damaging comments, and which the TON Foundation has no control over or knowledge of how to contact their moderators, apparently, as mentioned in a previous post, is recommending ton.app site.
However, there are many problems with the ton.app site: first, TON Foundation claimed it is not related to it, after cutting links from ton.org, when the ton.place fiasco (never resolved) came up, and then after revamping the ton.org site link again to ton.app and recommend it as the place to go to see "verified ticks" against "approved apps".
And there are big problems with ton.app verification marks, they basically mean nothing. Why? Because unsafe, very unsafe apps like Tonhub wallet, which rightly says on its github that it is still in alpha development (and thus should not be released on the public, but they've done just that in the app stores!) is given a check mark.
I pointed out this problem which causes people to send their entire balance, in some circumstances, instead of just the intended payment. If you have 1 million TON you could lose that 1 million. I showed proof of how it actually happened when a random Iranian guy sent me his entire hard earned TON balance.
Lucky he was that I immediately returned it.
Reporting this to TON Whales Tonhub wallet lead developer, was snubbed in an arrogant and rude fashion, ordering me to open a github account and raise it as an issue there, and then led to a horrible barrage in public when I raised the issue again. That exchange was so unprofessional and uncalled for that I recorded it.
Subsequently I submitted a detailed report to claim a bounty for finding vulnerabilities, and that report also has to be sent to this Steve Korshakov's email: [email protected] not bugs@whales or some independent assessors. For all that effort I did not even get an acknowledgment, let alone a reply.
6 weeks later, just the past few days, I saw that someone, allegedly from the TON Foundaton, claimed TON 1,500 part of the bounty, for a lesser problem. I questioned and mentioned I'd submitted a claim 6 weeks ago, and Korshakov who evidently has his fingers everywhere on whales, from the horrific gay and ugly design of a logo to the hijacking of ton foundation address on github, deleted the posts entirely.
And yet, this wallet, dangerous as it is, has a mark of approval from ton.app, whilst TON Rocket Bot wallet, which is safe and reputable, with known persons running the company professionally, providing great customer satisfaction and service, has none.
Thankfully some of the very deserving ones, notably Cryptobot, do have an approval.
Thus it is all meaningless. Not to mention the many apps on ton.app which don't even do what they claim to do at all: showing that the persons behind the site don't even bother to do the most basic of testing. If a wallet claims it does Toncoin, surely it should do toncoin. And at least work. Some apps listed there, do neither.
MEXC? It's fees are useless: 0.2% per spot trade compared to OKX's 0.08-0.1%, and a whopping 0.43 TON (did they throw a dice?!) for withdrawals compared to OKX's 0.1 TON. And some of you know how critical I am of OKX in other respects. OKX also has many more features such as trading bots, and an active P2P community that even the rarer currencies can find many local traders in. MEXC, almost none of that.
Of course, everyone has to start somewhere, and if MEXC is genuine, we wish them well. Likewise the TON Foundation, who are brilliant coders, and should not have to deal with horrible things like the rank and file ordinary crypto user who demands some customer service. However, if TON is to become a mass used currency, it will certainly be of great help if it can differentiate itself from others by real community service.
This doesn't need to be handled by the Foundation/Society/Community/App or whatever other name the unknown brilliant people go behind. It can be done by others, and assisted with funding. Likewise the problems with ton.app and tonhub: these can inspire us to do what is required, and seek funding or support for it if required.
It is difficult for developers and creators to take time out when they are so busy, so the invitation to write a proposal for the Foundation on how to solve these problems, is very welcome, but will for now have to wait, as we also have to prioritize our work which we also need for our survival.
It would be nice if someone would throw us a good grant, to free us up and help our projects which are actually doing exactly that: making great UI/UX for the broad masses — Steve perhaps? — but we cannot demand it. Some get lucky, and produce nothing. It is not easy always easy to get funding behind great ideas.
On the other hand, there are those in the TON ecosystem, shall we say, who really appreciate our efforts, and have thrown us a grant without any expectations or conditions. You know who you are, and the way the universe works, it is appreciated. We also have a supportive team, and are trying to expand it to produce great results.
