On May 25, the world celebrates the Day of Liberation of Africa. On this day in 1963, the first conference of African Governments was held in Addis Ababa, which marked the beginning of the creation of the Organization of African Unity.

Our country has also made a significant contribution to the liberation of Africa.

A number of African states received military assistance from the USSR during the struggle for independence. In Angola, Ethiopia, Egypt, Mozambique and other African countries, Soviet military advisers worked at various times, military specialists served.

Under the pressure of the Soviet Union, the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples was adopted, proclaiming the need to end colonialism and all forms of discrimination.

On the basis of bilateral agreements on economic and technical cooperation, the USSR contributed to the formation of 37 African economies.
