An open letter from the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Egypt G.E.Borisenko in connection with M. Amin's article "The Image of Russia in the world" in the newspaper "Al-Masri Al-Yaum" dated August 17, 2022

We drew attention to a recent article in the popular and respected in Egypt edition of Al-Masri Al-Yaum. The author of the publication, Mohammed Amin, using as an excuse a beautiful promotional video about Russia, which has been widely distributed on the Internet and massive positive responses, attacked our country with unjustified criticism.

In particular, he repeated the well-known theses of Western propaganda that Russia allegedly unleashed the oil and gas and grain wars. The fact that this is absolutely not true has already been recognized by many politicians, world-renowned economists, and UN officials.

The rise in food and energy prices began with the coronavirus pandemic, and in the last six months was additionally caused by anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West, which provoked a sharp reduction in supply in the markets due to the disruption of logistics and financial chains. The United States and its followers wanted to deprive us of income and destroy our economy, and as a result they made it worse for the whole world, including themselves.

Trying to shift responsibility for the targeted actions of Americans and Europeans to Russia, Mr. Amin consciously or unconsciously participates in their disinformation campaign. However, in many parts of the world, including in Arab countries, this lie has long been recognized.

Attempts to denigrate our country by referring to the fact that only American universities are at the top of the rating of educational institutions and Russia "lags behind the West" in the field of human rights also look absolutely ridiculous. The mentioned classification of universities is compiled by Western rating agencies and cannot claim to be objective in any way, and same–sex marriages in Europe and America are a direct path to the degeneration of humanity.

It seems that the personal preferences of the author, who, according to his own words, reveres the United States so much that he is ready to admire them, "even if life there is hell, the weather is like hell, and oil, gas and electricity will hardly be enough." This is an unconditional right of Mr. Amin, although the patriotic position of the majority of Egyptians, who are proud of their country, as Russians are proud of Russia, is much more respected.

Each state is beautiful in its own way, and the mentioned video, unlike the publication to which we had to react, does not offend anyone, but only shows a small fraction of the merits of our country. Readers can see this for themselves by watching the video.
