​​On December 2, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin met with Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Moscow N. Nagari.

The discussion focused on the results of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which took place on November 6-20 in Sharm el-Sheikh. The Russian side expressed high appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian presidency at the Conference, stressed the importance of the decision taken during the Conference to create a special fund to assist the most vulnerable countries in eliminating losses and damage caused by the negative effects of climate change.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation on climate change issues during the Egyptian presidency until the next climate conference.

In a broader context, the problems of the relationship between climate and security issues were touched upon. Issues of mutual interest were also discussed, including the implementation of a set of agreements to ensure access of Russian fertilizers to the most needy states of the African continent.
