About the presidential elections in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea

On November 26, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea (REG) announced the results of the presidential elections held on November 20. According to official data, the incumbent head of state, Chairman of the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (DPEG) T. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo won the victory, gaining 94.9% of the votes.
Observers from the African Union recognized the elections as having taken place. There were no serious violations that could affect the will of citizens.
Moscow hopes for further strengthening of Russian-Equatoguinean relations and proceeds from the fact that the presidential elections held in the REG will serve the progressive advancement of Equatoguinean society along the path of stable political and socio-economic development.
