In order not to bore the benevolent reader with ancient stories, I will periodically write about new paintings. As today's showpiece, I present to you the detective story of this painting.
For the first time, a picture with this name was painted by me in 1991 on a 24x16 cm. canvas with oil paints.
The idea of the composition is so simple and familiar - the girl looks at the flower. What could be simpler? But we have in the picture not just a girl - Madonna. The Mother of God, as a symbol, also has the meaning of Mother Nature, matter, creator and container of everything that exists on Earth.
The angle of the face and the gesture of the hand means attention is focused on some object. Attention is one of the greatest gifts with which nature has endowed a human, because by paying attention to any subject in due measure, a person can solve the most complex problems. By studying, to realize the nature of things, to realize the interrelationships of events and physical factors, and as a result, to invent something new. For absolutely any action, the primary impulse of attention is necessary - interest in the subject, careful examination of its structure, embedding the subject in one's system of understanding the world - identification. It was this process that attracted me back in 1991 and inspired me to create the painting "Madonna with a Flower". Later in 1993, I gave it to my friend Maryana.
In November of the same 1993, the picture participated in the exhibition "Invitation to Travel" by the group of artists "Union of African Figures" in the 1st city hospital, on Leninsky Prospekt, in Moscow.
The opening of the exhibition was quite fun and successful, there were a lot of people and even publication about it in the newspapers. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to collect paintings at the end of the exhibition, and we saw an empty place, where there should have been two works ... My "Madonna with a Flower" and "Be the War in Heaven" by Mikhail Astafiev, also known as Methodius, mysteriously disappeared from the closed room ... What to do? We asked around. No one saw anything ... So it is until today not known where they disappeared, or rather, who took them. It would be very interesting to know.
And recently I was presented with a round canvas and I suddenly remembered that painting and decided to paint a tempera work based on it. Of course, it is round, not rectangular, painted in tempera, not in oil. Much thinner, and in a slightly different color combination. But the meaning does not change from this, the meaning is that time is the most valuable human resource. Therefore, attention to any subject is a voluntary application of the most valuable energy, which breathes life into any subject.
Madonna - the creator in the picture, is inspired by the beauty of the flower, from being excited to study flower "roses bloom" on her cheeks. The flower, in response to the energy of attention, reveals the secrets of its structure, filling the attentive creator with new ideas.
The position of the eyes, the hands, the colors and patterns are not accidental in this painting. Each attentive viewer will notice and be able to unravel the symbolism of patterns hidden in the picture. And the most attentive, perhaps even find a proof of the famous geometric theorem.
This work opens a new series that is being created right now! There is no name for the series yet, but it is known for sure that it will be dedicated to the laws of the Universe and life on Earth. To all its luxurious diversity!
