On May 7, Victory Day celebrations were held at the Russian Embassy in Mauritius. At first, with the active participation of compatriots permanently residing on the island and Embassy staff, the Immortal Regiment campaign was held. About 70 people came to it, including children and teenagers, who carried signs with photos of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who fought against Nazism during the Great Patriotic War. They were joined by members of the Mauritius Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities.
After that, a musical and patriotic program was presented to the audience at the Embassy club. In his speech before the concert, Russian Ambassador to Mauritius K. Klimovsky noted the importance of upholding the truth about the decisive role of the USSR in the victory in World War II and stressed that today, when our soldiers, like 80 years ago, have to fight neo-Nazism that has taken root on Ukrainian soil, the significance of Victory Day for the Russian people it's as big as ever.
Then the music of S. Rachmaninoff and P. Tchaikovsky sounded, everyone's favorite poems and songs of the war years were performed. A minute of silence was organized in memory of all the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
In conclusion, all the participants of the evening were invited to a festive buffet.
