💒 Orthodox Church in Africa news: Republic of the Congo, Brazzaville

The delegation of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa visited the Republic of the Congo.

On Sunday, October 30, the Cathedral Divine Liturgy was held in the building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brazzaville. Priest George Maximov was co-served by the clergy of the Exarchate: Priests Siluan Nkunku, Timothy Ndzebe and John Nzingula. Orthodox Congolese, employees of the Russian embassy, compatriots living in the country prayed at the service. The liturgy was celebrated in Church Slavonic and French. For assistance in organizing the service, we thank the Director of the RCSC in Brazzaville, M.A.Fakhrutdinova.

At the end of the Liturgy Fr .George handed over humanitarian aid to the clergy of the Exarchate for Orthodox Congolese in need. Thirty families of the parish of Brazzaville received support. This is the second humanitarian action we have carried out in Africa. As always, my words of gratitude to patrons and donors.

On the same day, Priest George met with his compatriots at the Russian Cultural Center.

The day before, on October 29, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Congo, G.Y. Chepik, met with Priest Georgy Maksimov, plans and areas of cooperation were outlined. Later fr .George and the head of the legal Department of the Exarchate S.A.Belyaev held a meeting with the clergy of the Exarchate in the Republic of the Congo.

A number of current issues were resolved, and ways of developing the mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in the country were outlined.
