Russia is preparing about 30 energy projects for Africa

These solutions are aimed at providing access to inexpensive and clean energy, said Dmitry Semenov, head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Energy

MOSCOW, October 12. /tass/. Russia will prepare about 30 projects in the energy sector, which it will propose in 2023 at the second Russia-Africa summit. This was announced during the international forum "Russian Energy Week" by the head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy of Russia Dmitry Semenov.

"We are preparing for the second Russia-Africa summit, we have agreed in the ministry and updated with the companies a list of priority projects - about 30 positions. A large share of hydropower, over 30%," he said.

Semenov stressed that the solutions being prepared for African countries are aimed at providing access to inexpensive and clean energy. At the same time, the head of the department noted that in the conditions of sanctions restrictions, time is needed for adaptation.

According to the head of the department, cooperation between Russia and Africa is one of the elements of stabilizing the current energy crisis. "Western countries are trying to make us the source of all disasters, but the objective picture is different: the global energy crisis is caused by a number of factors, including long-term ones. For example, underinvestment in the energy industry, accumulated imbalances and sanctions restrictions that led to turbulence in the markets and destabilization of the situation," Semenov said. Russia, he added, acts as a stabilizing force, including through work with African countries on such platforms as OPEC+, the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries and active bilateral work.
