The trade representative of Russia in Morocco, ArtemTsinamdzgvrishvili, gave an extended comment to the National Radio Station of Morocco on the prospects for the supply of Russian grain to the Kingdom's market
Within the framework of economic cooperation between Rabat and Moscow, the first grain delivery to Morocco is expected. When does Morocco receive this grain shipment? and what other areas of agricultural cooperation are there between the two countries?
Russia has traditionally been one of the leaders in terms of grain supplies to Morocco, has been a reliable supplier and has always fulfilled its export obligations. Despite the existing difficulties, we intend to continue doing this in the future.
However, in the current conditions in the international arena, most Western banks involved in export financing, especially in the supply of Russian grain, have begun to put sticks in the wheels, which can affect not only the volume of bilateral trade, but also regional food security. The same situation hasdeveloped with logistics companies.
Therefore, together with our Moroccan partners, we are looking for and finding alternative mechanisms for bank transfers for Russian export goods using new opportunities, including the services of Russian insurance organizations.
At the same time, we have developed a scheme for direct deliveries of Russian cargo to Morocco by Russian logistics companies, and the first ships will arrive in June.
Now Russian grain exporters are ready for deliveries. As soon as we solve logistical and financial issues, the first grain ships will arrive at Moroccan ports. In fairness, I note that grain importers from other countries in the region are showing great initiative and are already buying Russian grain without significant problems.
In general, the agricultural sector is the engine of our trade and economic cooperation. Morocco is one of the main suppliers of vegetables, fruits (especially citrus fruits), fish products to the Russian market. In turn, our operators, of course, export grain, meat products and confectionery, as well as fertilizers to Morocco. By the way, one of the first Russian ships will be fully loaded with fertilizers only.
The second question concerns cooperation in the field of direct investments of Russian business in the economy of Morocco, I want to ask you which specific industries are interesting for cooperation?
Currently, Morocco is of increasing interest to Russian investors. The areas of the fishing industry, woodworking, automotive industry, agricultural production and many others represent serious prospects.
In addition, Morocco is pursuing an active policy in the African direction and Russian investors can discover broad prospects for work in the entire West African region, using the opportunities of Moroccan partners. Also, the existence of agreements on a free trade zone between Morocco and almost 60 countries of the world, allowing duty-free export of products produced in the Kingdom, is a significant help for a potential Russian investor.
