On December 7, at the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov held a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of African states accredited in Moscow in the context of the preparation and holding of the second Russia–Africa summit scheduled for July 2023 in St. Petersburg.

During the interested discussion of a set of issues related to the participation of African delegations in the summit, the Russian side stressed that the upcoming forum is intended to become a key event in Russia's relations with the countries of the African continent, determine their development for the long term, make a significant contribution to building a fair multipolar system of the world order, solving many global and regional problems.

At the same time, in principle, it was proposed that the structure of the summit should include political, economic and humanitarian areas of cooperation. Within the framework of the relevant panel sessions, in-depth consideration of issues of ensuring food and energy security on the continent, investment, industrialization, development of the agro-industrial complex, cooperation in the fields of education, health, science, culture, media and sports is planned.
