💒 Orthodox Church in Africa: news from Cairo
On November 7, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, visited the residence of the Coptic Patriarchs in Cairo, where he met with the Primate of the Coptic Church, His Holiness Patriarch Tawadros II.
Metropolitan Anthony conveyed to His Holiness Patriarch Tawadros II the greetings and well-wishes of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, noting that it is a great honor and joy for him, as Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, to arrive in Cairo with the blessing of His Holiness on the days when the First Hierarch of the Coptic Church celebrates the 70th anniversary of his birth and the 10th anniversary of his election to the Patriarchal throne. To commemorate these dates and in consideration of the outstanding contribution of His Holiness Patriarch Tawadros to the development of relations between the Coptic Church and the Moscow Patriarchate, on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the DECR Chairman presented the Primate of the Coptic Church with one of the highest awards of the Russian Orthodox Church — the Order of Glory and Honor of the first degree.
His Eminence thanked His Holiness Patriarch Tawadros for the warm welcome extended to the monastic delegation from Russia, headed by Bishop Leonti of Syzran and Shigon, who visited Egypt recently, and for the assistance provided by the Coptic Church to the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Cairo and other cities of Egypt.
