WHO members agree for independent probe on Covid-19
After so much of blame game on each other, who really is responsible for corona virus spread?
On Tuesday WHO member states agreed to an independent probe on COVID- 19 virus. The annual meeting being held virtually for the first time urging a joint response to the crisis.
Recently EU submitted a draft resolution for probe which demanded for “impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation” for international response on pandemic which has infected more than 4.8 million people and killed more than 319,000 people.
India is among the 120 nations backing the European Union’s draft resolution. India is also is expected to be elected Chair of the Executive board of WHO.
“On the issue of the origin of the virus, all parties have agreed to International Health Regulation emergency committee’s suggested wording and asked the WHO chief to work in close collaboration with World Organisation for Animal Health and the Food and Agricultural Organisation, and all countries to find out the animal source and the transmission routes of the virus through field investigations and find out the possible intermediary host,” Zhao said.
On the other hand U.S president Donald Trump threatened WHO, accusing it for mismanaging the global response and for being a “puppet of china”.
In response, Xi pledge $2 billion aid for countries fighting the pandemic and also agreed to independent evaluation, as long as it is “objective and impartial” but it will be conducted after pandemic.
