Indian celebrates Taiwan National Day despite China warned not to

China’s expansionist agenda is not hidden from the world anymore. Decades ago, when China’s communist regime marched into Tibet, that proved its intention or hunger for territorial supremacy to the neighboring country. Then Tibet’s Holiness Dalia Lama had to flee his own country to take political asylum in India.

India and Taiwan are only countries which thwarted its misadventures and continued doing so in future, but there are many peaceful regions in Asia that still struggle to put up a fight against Beijing and its nefarious tactics.

Taiwan has single handedly managed to wade Beijing aggression for nearly seven decades.

As Taiwan celebrates its National Day, China warned its neighboring countries including India not to refer to Taiwan as a ‘’country’’, Beijing says Taiwan comes in One China Policy but in reality, China is a communist country which comes under CCP rule while Taiwan is a democratic country.

Hong Kong is a classic example of China’s schadenfreude.

In a recent move China’s embassy to India asked Indian media not to refer Taiwan as a “country (nation)” or “Republic of China” and not violate Delhi’s ”One-China” policy during the National Day of Taiwan.

“Regarding the so-called forthcoming ‘National Day of Taiwan’, the Chinese Embassy in India would like to remind our media friends that there is only one China in the world, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China,” the embassy said.

“We hope Indian media can stick to Indian government’s position on the Taiwan question and do not violate the ‘One China’ principle,” the embassy said.

But in response to the Chinese embassy, the Ministry of External Affairs reminded the Chinese that Indian media is a “free” entity and they can report on any issue they deem “fit”.

On Wednesday, advertisements were placed in leading Indian newspapers by the Taiwanese government to mark the democratic national day on Saturday. The advertisement carried a photograph of Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen and hailed India as a natural partner of Taiwan.

India too has held Taiwan in high regard for decades and has not cloaked its stand on China and its ridiculous ambitions. New Delhi understands the value of democracy and shares Taipei’s agony of an invading virus, and Taiwan’s fight for freedom from the clutches of China could be a cornerstone for the resistance in the region.
