Opposition criticizes PM over LAC statements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments in an all-party meeting held on Friday has come under hard criticism from various political and opposition leaders.

The meeting was held regarding the current LAC dispute with China. Modi stated that "Neither is anyone inside our territory nor is any of our post captured". This statement, however, seemed contradictory to many leaders.

Rahul Gandhi posted on his twitter handle that, “PM has surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression”. He also asked, “If the land was Chinese, Why were our soldiers killed? And where were they killed?”

Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal asked the PM, “How did 20 soldiers die if no one entered Indian territory?” and why didn’t Donald Trump support India? Pointing to the special relationship that Modi has with him.

Kamal Hassan also was very disappointed with the statements that Modi made in the all-party meeting. The Makkal Needhi Maiam chief wrote that "The mischief lies in continuing to emotionally manipulate people with such statements. I sincerely request the Prime Minister and his supporters to stop doing that." He also mentioned about Modi and Xinping’s diplomatic meeting which took place last year in Tamil Nadu in October. He said, "Eight months later, the Chinese stab us in the back by killing our unarmed soldiers. If that is the result of the government's diplomacy, then either their strategy has failed miserably or they failed to read the intentions of the Chinese correctly."

All the questions certainly raise some concern in the masses and how the Government answers these would be awaited.
