Liverpool are Premier League champions

Liverpool has won their first Premier League title in 30 years with seven games to spare. They were crowned champions after Chelsea beat Man City 2-1 yesterday. They lead the points table by 23 points.

The last time they had won was in 1989-1990 season when the premier league was called League First Division. The win takes them to a total of 19 league titles in the English top-flight only behind Manchester united with 20 titles.

Jürgen Klopp has been a major success with his team and their dominance in the league has grown year by year.

Last year they had lifted the Champions League. This year however they were knocked out of the league by Atletico Madrid in their round-of-16 clash.

If we look at the last decade of the EPL, Man City have won four titles, Chelsea two and Manchester united two. Liverpool have only become a serious threat since Jürgen Klopp arrived at Anfield. The rise of the new powerhouse could only mean good news for the fans as the league standards would eventually grow.
