Arteta gets one over former boss Guardiola
It was expected to be a feisty encounter at Wembley as former assistant turned manager Mikel Arteta’s arsenal were set to take on Pep Guardiola’s Man City. But arsenal managed to surprise everyone with a 2-0 win over the Blues.
Both the goals were scored by the Gabonese international Pierre Emrick Aubameyang on either half of the match. Even though City enjoyed the majority of possession they could only manage two shots on target. Sterling came closest to scoring but hit his shot wide.
Arteta was Guardiola’s assistant last season at Man City and learned a lot under the Spaniard. He joined Arsenal after Unai Emery was sacked last November and the gunners believed in the former Arsenal player to bring them back to the top level.
Arsenal’s victory over City comes just after they beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Emirates stadium in the premier league. All this can be credited to Arteta’s technical genius. They will now face the winner of the second semifinal between Chelsea and Manchester United in the final.
