IITs change admission criteria

On Friday IIT decided to drop class 12th performance criteria for admission this year, this is one time change in the format of admission of JEE due Covid-19 outbreak.

According to sources, another meeting of Joint Admission Board (JAB) will be held next week to decide whether a change in the exam format is justifiable.

Generally, a general category student should have either scored at least 75% in boards exam or figure in the top 20 percentile in his board results to get a seat in IIT except JEE marks. And for SC/ST candidates, the student should have either scored at least 65 per cent or fulfill the top 20 percentile requirement.

On behalf of IIT, Ramesh Pokhriyal said the Board exam criteria has been relaxed “due to partial cancellation of Class XII exams by several Boards”.

IITs also have been holding the exams for international students at Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu and Singapore. This year, it had also decided to add a centre in the US.
