India loses 1st ODI by 66 runs

India lost its first ODI match with Australia by 66 runs in the 3 match series. The match took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australian captain Aron Finch won the toss and chose to bat first.

Australia started well with both Finch and Smith scoring centuries to power the hosts to a huge total of 374 for six in fifty overs. Finch scored 114 runs from 124 balls and Smith scored 105 runs from 66 balls.

In response India’s start was not up to the mark, India lost Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer cheaply. But two players who kept the hopes alive were Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya.

Dhawan scored 74 from 86 balls, and Pandya scored 90 off 76 deliveries. India finished 308 for 8 in 50 overs and lost the game by 66 runs.
