Naya Bharat Naya Nirmaan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new scheme "Garib Kalyan Rojgaar Abhiyaan" - an attempt to generate employment opportunities for migrant workers in rural India. The motto behind this abhiyaan is to provide relief to the migrants who travelled back to their homes due to the corona virus pandemic. The program aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the rural citizens as well.

This mission of 125 days will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of work to provide employment with resource envelope of Rs.50,000 crores.

In total 12 different ministries and departments will be involved in ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan’ namely, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, Road Transport & Highways, Mines, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Environment, Railways, Petroleum & Natural Gas, New & Renewable Energy, Border Roads, Telecom and Agriculture.

Those districts where 25,000 migrants have returned have been chosen for this program. 116 districts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha have been selected for the campaign. These districts are estimated to cover about two-thirds of migrant workers.

The migrants who used their skills for the development of the cities now will be improving their hometowns.
