Dhoni announces his retirement in his own way
Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from International Cricket on Saturday by a post on Instagram which says “”Thanks. Thanks for your love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs. consider me as Retired”. Like his cool and calmness on the field, he retired himself from the cricket silently like it’s not a big deal for him.
However, you can see him in action till 2022 in the IPL edition for the team Chennai Super Kings after that it’s hard to say what’s his plan because nobody can predict what’s going in his mind.
This announcement means Dhoni’s last match would remain the semifinal of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in which India lost to New Zealand by 18 runs. It was his 350th ODI, in which he scored 50 off 72 balls before being run-out by a bullet throw from Martin Guptill in the deep. Incidentally, Dhoni was run-out in his first ODI as well.

Dhoni’s wife Sakshi had reacted to the post with a heart and folded hands emojis. However, she followed this up with a heartfelt post on her own Instagram account.
“You should be proud of what you have achieved. Congratulations on giving your best to the game. I am proud of your accomplishments and the person you are! I am sure you must have held those tears to say goodbye to your passion. Wishing you health, happiness and wonderful things ahead,” Sakshi Singh Dhoni wrote along with a picture of her husband looking at a sunset.
Sakshi also quoted Maya Angelou in her Instagram post.
“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
After Dhoni, his friend Suresh Raina also announced his retirement by post on Instagram.
As the news broke out after practice at MA Chidambaram Stadium, those in the CSK dressing-room rushed to speak to him. Dhoni shrugged and told them to check Instagram. “Just felt like it’’ was all he said and started planning for Monday’s net practice like nothing happened and it’s not a big deal.
