Leicester win three in a row
Leicester City defeated Manchester City 5 – 2 at the Etihad on Sunday evening. This was Pep Guardiola’s biggest defeat; no team had ever scored five against Pep. Jaime Vardy scored an hattrick while Maddison and Tielemans scored one goal each. Raheem Sterling and Nathan Ake scored for City. It was a horrific performance at the back for city as they conceded three penalties in the match which were all converted. City’s defense is a major concern again this season, they have reached an agreement to sign SL Benfica’s defender Ruben Dias.
In another match Manchester United edged past Brighton 3 – 2. Thanks to Neal Maupay’s handball, united were given a penalty after VAR intervened after the final whistle. Overall, it was a lackluster performance from United, who yet again looked shaky in defense. Their pursuit of Jadon Sancho is still on, while reports have confirmed that Alex Telles has agreed personal terms with them. There are rumors of United trying to get Kante from Chelsea.
Tottenham were looking for their second win in a row but could only manage a draw (1-1) against Newcastle. Again, VAR played a major role as Newcastle were awarded a penalty for an Eric Dier handball, which in truth looked unintentional. Tottenham are still trying to get a striker to partner Harry Kane and talks with Inter for Milan Skriniar are still going on.
