Aviation Ministry considering Bilateral Bubble Arrangement for International air Travel
The center expects domestic travel to touch half the pre pandemic level by mid-July after which it will consider scheduling international flights. About 72,000 domestic passengers are being ferried each day and it might touch half pre pandemic level of 1.5 – 1.6 lakh domestic passengers daily. Considering this, it may extend the domestic fare cap which was introduced for 3 months when domestic airlines started operating on May 25, beyond August 24.
Indian Aviation ministry is considering creating the travel bubble with countries that allow access to Indian citizens and vice versa. Union civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Saturday, “The exact time when we will resume international flight depends on other countries to be open to receive the flights. In absence of a decision on resumption of international civil aviation, we are left with no option but to continue what I call evacuation and repatriation flights under managed and controlled conditions”. He added that close to 2,75,000 Indians who were stranded in foreign countries have brought back to the country via Vande Bharat mission.
