CAS lifts Man City’s ban
The court of arbitration for sports (CAS) has lifted Manchester City’s two-year ban which means that City will be able to play in the champions league next season. The CAS handed them a £10 mil fine.
City were banned for two years from Europeans leagues and were told to pay 30 mil as fine by UEFA's club financial control body (CFCB) in February for "serious breaches" of club licensing and financial fair play regulations.
But City had appealed against the decision and were relived of the suspension.
The decision came good as it would allow City keep their top players at the club and their manager Pep Guardiola would also remain.
City currently are second in the premier league and have already booked their place in the champions league. However, their qualification has come when there are only three matchdays remaining in the premier league and five clubs still battling for the remaining two spots.
Manchester United are favourites to secure the third position. There could be an interesting fight for fourth position between Chelsea and Leicester who are currently third and fourth with 60 and 59 points, united are in fifth with 58 points but still have game in hand and their win over Southampton would see take them to third and Chelsea and Leicester to fourth and fifth.
Many pundits have suggested the battle would go to the last match day of the league when united will face Leicester.
