India successfully tests naval version of BrahMos missiles

India once again on Sunday tested BrahMos supersonic cruise missile of naval variant. The missile was tested from indigenously-built stealth destroyer, INS Chennai.

With the successful testing of BrahMos, India has now tested 11 missiles within the period of 2 months. The testing of missiles comes at a time when India is involved in a conflict with China on the LAC in eastern Ladakh.

India has deployed a sizable number of BrahMos supersonic missiles along the LAC.

Here is a list of missiles and weapon systems India has tested within 2 months to tackle China’s aggression alongside the border:

September 7: Indigenously-developed hypersonic technology demonstrator vehicle (HSTDV), which is essential to power cruise missiles and long-range missile systems.

September 22: ABHYAS – High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) vehicles – were tested off the coast of Odisha. These can be used as target for evaluation of various missile systems.

September 23: DRDO test-fires indigenously developed laser-guided anti-tank guided missile at Ahmednagar in Maharashtra

September 23: Prithvi-II is an indigenously developed nuclear capable surface-to-surface missile which uses an advanced inertial guidance system with maneuvering trajectory to hit its target, according to DRDO.

September 30: Extended range of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile tested from a land-based facility in Odisha.

October 1: Laser-guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) fired from a MBT Arjun Tank in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

October 3: India successfully test-fires new version of nuclear-capable Shaurya.

October 5: India develops anti-submarine warfare and successfully test-fires indigenously developed SMART torpedo system which is essential for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations far beyond the torpedo range.

October 10: India successfully test-fired Rudram-1, its first indigenous anti-radiation missile which can detect enemy radars on the ground.

October 18: A naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile fired from the indigenously-built stealth destroyer INS Chennai.
