Fire in COVID facility
A fire broke out in a hotel which was being used as a COVID facility in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. At least ten people are reported to be dead. The hotel named Swarna Palace was burned down due to a suspected short circuit, which spread through the ground and first floor of the building.
The incident is said to be occurred at 5 AM on Sunday. Nearly 30 positive patients and 10 staff members were present in the building at the time of the incident. The identities of the dead are yet to be confirmed. Most of the victims are believed to be dead due to suffocation. The patients already suffering from COVID-19 couldn’t breathe properly.
PM Modi wrote on twitter,” Anguished by the fire at a Covid Centre in Vijayawada. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover as soon as possible. Discussed the prevailing situation with AP CM @ysjagan Ji and assured all possible support.”
