US denies entry to foreign students
All foreign students travelling to US for the fall semester which starts from September have to face a setback. Students who have their classes online only won’t be allowed to enter the united states. The Trump administration made this announcement today.
The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) said in a statement “Non-immigrant students in new or initial status after March 9 will not be able to enter the US to enrol in a US school as a non-immigrant student for the fall term to pursue a full course of study that is 100% online”.
The pandemic in the united states on the rise and has affected more than 4 million confirmed cases and 1,48,000 deaths registered until now.
Some of the top universities like the Harvard university have declared all classes to be online.
Every year US nearly receives a million of new students from which approximately 2,00,000 are Indian students.
The trump administration has come under scrutiny for the decision. Elizabeth Warren, a Democratic senator, and former presidential candidate wrote on her twitter handle that the decision is “dangerous & xenophobic”.
