“Plans for the future”

Hello everyone!

Подходит к концу первый месяц 2022 года и пора бы определиться с целями на текущий год, в этом нам помогут некоторые времена английского, заодно повторим их.

How can you describe your plans for the future? Do you have any plans in 2022?

Future simple

you can use for plans and decisions that were made in the process of speaking

S + will + V (base form) (next V)

H: — What will you do this evening?

S: — I think I will go to the theatre in the evening.

S + will not/ won’t + V

— I won’t go to the cinema.

Will + S + V?

— Will you buy tickets?

Present continuous

you can use for arrangements (something that has been organized or agreed on).

S + am/is/are + Ving

— I am flying to Moscow in a month.

S + am not/isn’t/aren’t + Ving

— We aren’t starting a new project in two days.

Am/is/are + S + Ving?

— Is he cooking dinner for the guests tomorrow?

to be going to

you can use for plans that were made before the process of speaking (intentions).

S + am/is/are going to + V

— I am going to do some work-out next week.

— We’re stuck in the traffic jam. We’re going to be late for the meeting.

S + am/is/are not going to + V

— They are not going to attend the conference.

Am/Is/Are + S + going to + V?

— Is he going to go to university?

Present simple

is used to refer to events in the future which are certain because they are facts, or because there is a clear or fixed schedule or timetable

S + V/Vs

— Her birthday falls on a Friday next year. (a known fact about the future)

 — The train arrives at 20.12. (a timetable)

S + don/t/doesn/t + V

— He doesn`t come on time.

Does/do + S + V

— She has her driving test next week, does she? (a fixed arrangement)

— What time does their flight to Seoul leave? (a schedule)
