Is YouTube Falling to Copyright Infringing Videos?

YouTube is where you can upload videos for free. There are clips of everything, including at one time most of the Bill Nye the Science Guy episodes. However, due to the increasing amount of users copying shows, movie clips, and more, some of the episodes were removed after a long-standing viewing on the site. The episodes posted, which went from learning about the heart to such topics as the solar system, some were removed recently due to the Terms of Violation at YouTube. Several videos are now kept a clear watch on as the users increase their uploading on the site. As with other sites that allow users to post content on, YouTube has a clear stand on copyright infringement.

On YouTube's site they clearly mark their guidelines of reporting copyright infringement and also when you sign up as a community member, a clear Terms of Usage that you need to adhere to.

Videos ranging from posting working on a cutting a tree to more humorous videos are uploaded on a daily basis. Timing is everything for these videos. However, time may run out if they are copyrighted already. The crackdown of copyrighted videos is happening at YouTube and some other sites may follow soon.

Companies such as Disney, who own the rights to Bill Nye the Science Guy mayhave enforced their rights when it comes to copyright infringement on YouTube. Many others may follow as YouTube increases in popularity, simply the IRiver Clix: More Features On Your MP3 Player does.

What is needed is a way to be able to clearly watch what videos are uploaded and what may cause the infringement. It is easier said than done when so many users are uploading tons of videos on a daily basis. However, some form of regulation needs to be in place regularly. Some sites use a bot that screens certain key items to see if they are placed in a video or paper for example. Others may depend on the community or the company the infringement is happening to. Either way you look at it, something better needs to happen in order for others to be able to post non-copyrighted stuff.

YouTube like other video uploading sites may soon loose the battle over copyrighted material. Let's hope not. So many good laughs have come from silly things seen on YouTube from ordinary people doing humorous stuff. It may take some time for a better solution to stop copyright infringement on sites such as YouTube, but hopefully it won't.
