The book
Are books long enough for the current generation?
In the Atlantic magazine, the author wrote about the inability of young people who entered the prestigious universities of the USA to read. That is, we are talking about students of famous universities such as Columbia or Princeton. As a student, reading is important, for example, about students studying literature or history.
No matter how sad this situation is for me personally, it is not surprising. I have been observing for a long time that young people cannot read long texts. They cannot finish reading a 30-40 page article, let alone a thick book. However, in many universities, it is required to learn an average of one book-length material per week.
Why has reading become an insurmountable obstacle? There are many reasons for this, but I think the main reason is that children have more and more things to focus on. Think about the content teenagers watch—most of it less than a minute. In such conditions, long and patient study and deep reflection are bound to become unique skills like the seeds of anko.
